On 15th July 2016, the Agriculture Coalition held a plenary meeting to summarize its first 6-month activities and make plans for the forthcoming activities in the last 6 months.
Delegates at the meeting are the member organizations of the Agriculture Coalition: Viet Nam Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR), – The Institute for Studies of Society, Economics and Environment (iSEE), Vietnam Rural Development Science Association (PHANO), Southern Center of Agricultural Policies and Strategy (SCAP). The Agriculture’s researchers, which include Prof.Dr. Vo Tong Xuan, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vu Trong Khai also attended the plenary meeting
Dr.Nguyen Duc Thanh, Director of Vietnam Institute of Economic and Policy Research (VEPR) made an opening speech and introduced the meeting’s agenda. After that, each member organization of the Agriculture Coalition shared their plans and expected policies with other members of the Coalition.
Dr.Nguyen Thi Hong Minh, former Deputy of the Ministry of Fisheries, Head of Advocacy to establish Food transparency Association, shared her plans and expected policies of the Food Transparency Association
Mr. Hoang Xuan Truong, representative of PHANO shared his plans and expected policies of the “Farmer co-operate in agriculture production and business” Forum
Dr. Nguyen Duc Loc, Director of Southern Center of Agricultural Policies and Strategy (SCAP) shared his plans and expected policies for regulating banned substances in farming.
MSc. Vu Phuong Thao, deputy director of The Institute for Studies of Society, Economics and Environment (iSEE) shared the plans and policy messages on farming credits and development model diversification.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Thai, Researcher, Viet Nam Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR) shared the plans and policy messages on policy advocacy which aims to modification of Decree 109 on rice export.
After all members of the Coalition shared the activities and expected policies, MSc. Pham Tuyet Mai- Coordinator of the Agriculture Coalition discussed coordination method among members of the Agriculture Coalition on media campaign, media decentralization among coordinating agencies as well as plans to advocate policies, raise funds for the Agriculture Coalition and the “Farmers co-operate in agriculture production and business” Forum.
The plenary meeting has agreed on choosing next year’s training which aims at applying technology in agriculture. It will be held for 1 day in the Central part of Viet Nam
