TRAINING WORKSHOP ON

PROJECT MANAGEMENT: LOGFRAME and M&E FOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

29/11 – 30/11/2018 Hanoi, Viet Nam (tentative)

 

  1. INTRODUCTION
    • Agriculture Coaltition The Agriculture Coalition of Vietnam (ACV) was established in 2014, whose members are individuals and organizations dedicated to the development of the agriculture of Vietnam. By the end of 2015, the coalition members have discussed the strategic targets of the Coalition and identified two key objectives: (i) For a sustainable agriculture and (ii) For a fair agriculture, with a particular emphasis on enhancing the role and voice of small farmers and vulnerable groups in the planning and implementation of agricultural policy. In accordance with these two objectives, in 2016, the ACV has continued to organize various activities, including advocacy initiatives for a sustainable and fair agriculture.At present, current key members of the Coalition includes the Vietnam Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR) of the University for Economics and Business, Vietnam National University, Ha Noi, the Institute for Studies of Society, Economics and Environment (iSEE), Southern Centre of Policy and Strategy for Agricultural and Rural Development (SCAP), the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD) and the Vietnam Rural Development Science Association (PHANO) and leading experts in agricultural sector in Vietnam.
      • Vietnam Institute for Economic and Policy Research

      Viet Nam Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR), formerly known as Viet Nam Centre for Economic and Policy Research, is a research institute under the University of Economics and Business, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU). VEPR has legal status and its headquarters is located in the University of Economics and Business (UEB), Xuan-Thuy Street, Cau-Giay district, Hanoi, Viet Nam.

      VEPR considers its primary mission to be to carry out economic and policy research to assist in improving the quality of decision-making of policy-making institutions, enterprises and interest groups by providing insights into the social, political and economic factors that drive economic affairs of Vietnam and the region. The main activities of VEPR include (i) providing quantitative and qualitative analysis of changing economic conditions in Vietnam and assessments of their impacts on various interest groups throughout the country; (ii) organizing policy dialogues among policy-makers, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders to improve solutions to emerging issues; and (iii) conducting advanced training courses in economics, finance and policy analysis regularly and upon request.

      VEPR is currently the coordinating body of the Agriculture Coalition and is responsible for conducting joint activities of the Agriculture Coalition, including discussions, professional activities and training to improve skills and competencies.

  2. OBJECTIVES
  • Objectives

The training workshop is designed to provide trainees with knowledge and skills in project management for development projects, as follows:

– Develop logframe of the project: A logical framework, also known as a logframe, is a project planning tool that provides an overview of project goals, activities, and anticipated results. The logical framework was first developed and developed in the late 1960s to assist the United States Agency of International Development (USAID) in planning the project. Currently, major international donors use logical frameworks as one of the tools for project management.

– Building the project monitoring and evaluation system: Monitoring & Evaluation is an essential component of all development projects as projects need to keep track of progress to capture quantitative and qualitative changes. At the same time, monitoring and evaluation of the project should include specific methods and tools for measuring expected results.

Through the knowledge of building logframe and project monitoring and evaluation tools, trainees will be practiced directly on the existing project of the Agriculture Coalition to apply the knowledge gained to have the practical experience.

  • Participants

The training workshop looks forward to the participation and broad response of the Agriculture Coalition members. However, the main target audience for this training program is young people:

(i) Researchers – participants in the implementation of the project.

(ii) Potential project staffs.

III. EXPECTED OUTCOMES

(i) Attendees are updated with the latest knowledge on project management.

(ii) Attendees know how to organize, plan, execute, control project professionally.

(iii) Attendees have a general and complete vision when implementing the project.

(iv) Attendees have the ability to identify and manage risks to improve organizational performance.
